My Hero Academia X Pizza-La marketing collaboration has resulted in an interesting campaign that is gaining plenty of traction on the internet. In Japan, plenty of brands often collaborate with anime and manga titles. Pizza-La, in this case, is a popular pizza chain in Japan, second only to Domino’s in the country.
The My Hero Academia X Pizza-La collaboration resulted in an advertisement featuring Deku in a Pizza-La uniform. Such collaborations have taken place in the past. However, this particular campaign is receiving a ton of attention, and for all the wrong reasons.
The timing of this campaign was quite poor, given how the fanbase is reacting to the contents of the latest chapter. One fan even said that this was the "worst-timed official marketing ever." Let’s understand what the fanbase currently thinks about Deku and how this has affected the My Hero Academia X Pizza-La advertising campaign.

Why fans believe that the My Hero Academia X Pizza-La collaboration came at a bad time
Now that the manga has entered the epilogue phase of the story, Deku’s future in the story is revealed. After the fight against Tomura Shigaraki and AFO, he will no longer have the One For All Quirk in him. This is a massive blow since it was one of the most powerful Quirks in the series, and without it, there’s not much that Deku can do.
In such cases, netizens often resort to making memes and trolling the characters. Deku was no exception, as fans believed that he could only work as a fast-food chain employee given his current skill set. This got plenty of traction on the internet, and fans saw Deku as someone who either delivered pizzas or made burgers.
My Hero Academia X Pizza-La fed into the already-existing trend, and it made Deku look like a pizza delivery agent. The manga readers found the illustration to be rather hilarious, as it brought a popular yet funny visual to life. The anime-only fans might not understand why the advertising campaign came at a bad time since the adaptation hasn’t progressed to that stage yet.
How the fanbase reacted to the aforementioned collaboration
"Deku not beating the fast food worker post-series allegations," said one fan.
"Wait, why?," said another.
""I used to be a real hero!" Just put my pizza in the box bro...," said one netizen.
It's quite clear that fans are riding the fast-food wave, and Deku's portrayal in the My Hero Academia X Pizza-La illustration isn't helping the character. As such, Deku will not be of much help now that his Quirk is no longer present. Seeing the character become a fast-food employee made fans quite sad and empathetic towards him.
"I envy those who are oblivious to this," said one fan.
"Easily the worst f****** timing in the universe," said another.
"Hori must be aware of memes," said one netizen.
Manga readers were jealous of the anime-only fanbase since they had yet to find out about their beloved protagonist's fate in the series. Furthermore, some fans also acknowledged the timing of this campaign. This led some fans to believe that Kohei Horikoshi was aware of the memes. That being said, it certainly proved to be entertaining to fans of this shonen title.
