Yakuza Fiancé anime marked its debut on October 7, 2024, and quickly gained a niche fanbase due to its premise and the Yakuza backdrop, which has been absent from anime in recent years. The anime is being produced by Studio Deen, who have previously animated the Seven Deadly Sins and the Konosuba series.

The manga, serving as the source material for this series, started serialization in 2017 in Kodansha's Monthly Afternoon magazine and currently has eight compiled volumes released in both Japanese and English. The series is mainly a crime romance drama with a heavy emphasis on the Yakuza and the effects of being associated with them.

Yakuza Fiancé anime follows the story of Yoshino Somei as she finds herself engaged to Kirishima Miyama to calm tensions between the Yakuza families to which they both belong. Although Yoshino initially gets a good impression of Kirishima, she soon discovers his sick and twisted violent personality along with his masochistic tendencies.

After a verbal altercation, Yoshino decides to continue living in the Miyama household to make Kirishima fall for her and then break his heart by abruptly ending the relationship. Unlike other romance anime, this series is based around two hugely opposing personalities, with the Yakuza setting being an integral part of the overall narrative.

The anime falls under the seinen romance category and is one of the few romance anime airing during Fall 2024. Given its similarities with the classic romance series Nisekoi, it has already gained a niche but dedicated fanbase.

The story will mainly revolve around Yoshino and Kirishima's evolving relationship, with their Yakuza affiliations playing a significant role in the overall setting. The anime is currently being adapted by Studio Deen, who have somehow managed to stay consistent with the series's animation despite their bad reputation due to past adaptations of the Seven Deadly Sins series.
