Demon Slayer, much like other shonen anime and manga titles, often takes inspiration from other existing titles that have established certain tropes. Another reason for sharing similar elements is to honor longstanding shows that have made their mark in this particular medium.
Fans have reason to believe that this anime and manga series has taken inspiration from Akira Toriyama's magnum opus, Dragon Ball. Yoriichi Tsukiguni, the legendary swordsman could be inspired by Goku, the protagonist of his series.
There seems to be one similarity that these two characters share and it has to do with their ability to grow in battle and why they're a cut above the rest.

Demon Slayer: Yoriichi's character could be inspired by Goku mastering the Super Saiyan
Yoriichi is the strongest demon hunter in the series. There isn't a single character that has come close to achieving the feats that he managed to. He is a generational talent who nearly managed to kill Kibutsuji Muzan all by himself. One of the most striking features about Yoriichi is that he always had the Demon Slayer Mark. While other characters could activate it in certain situations during battle, Yoriichi constantly had the Mark.
Fans have reason to believe that this could be a parallel to Goku mastering the Super Saiyan form. When he and Gohan went to the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, they managed to enter the Super Saiyan form in a very efficient manner.
Goku's training allowed him to stay in the Super Saiyan form indefinitely. This was a feat that not many could boast about since entering this particular transformation is a task in itself. Having the ability to be efficient enough to eat, sleep, and train in this form shows just how talented and committed he was.
Koyoharu Gotouge could have taken inspiration from this section of Dragon Ball and implemented it through Yoriichi. The transformation that others managed to activate in certain situations was the very base form that Yoriichi operated in. He was also the first swordsman to come up with Breathing Techniques and devised a style to kill Kibutsuji Muzan.
The form was not only elegant but also extremely effective since it accounted for Muzan's anatomy. Owing to his demonic nature, he doesn't have just one heart and one brain but rather seven hearts and five brains. This is also why the Sun Breathing Technique has 13 forms. Each form targets a crucial organ in his body and the 13th form is a move involving all previous forms performed one after another.
Yoriichi's Demon Slayer Mark was special because he was the only one who lived past the age of 25. This exception could be looked at as a potential link to Goku from Dragon Ball. While the mangaka hasn't provided any comments on this, there is a possibility wherein the manga artist observed Goku in this form and implemented certain elements while writing Yoriichi's character.
