Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 263 has been recently leaked and it shows once again that there is a major difference between Yuji Itadori and his teacher, Satoru Gojo. It is displayed in their approaches to fighting Ryomen Sukuna. While Gojo fought the King of Curses to the death without little care of what happened to his apprentice, Megumi Fushiguro, Yuji has always tried to save the latter.

Yuji's humanity has been a very strong theme regarding his character in Jujutsu Kaisen and has led to many debates in the fandom when it comes to whether this is the right way to go in that world or not. However, it is worth pointing out that Gojo's way of doing things is a lot more selfish and driven by ambition. In addition, it doesn't gather the best results, which makes the contrast with Yuji all the more compelling.

Explaining the differences between Yuji and Gojo's ways of helping people in Jujutsu Kaisen

In the recently leaked chapter 263, it is depicted that Yuji Itadori uses Dismantle to separate Ryomen Sukuna's soul from the body of Megumi Fushiguro, which is something that once again differentiates him from Satoru Gojo. On the other hand, it was previously shown that Gojo fought Sukuna without little care of hurting his student's body and showing no qualms about killing him if push came to shove.

The nature of goodness and selfishness has been a running theme in author Gege Akutami's manga and several fans have claimed that Gojo's way is better because he has proven to be more powerful than Yuji. But there is a certain flaw to this logic since Gojo was born with the elements that made him so powerful.

Moreover, what happened to the likes of Riko Amanai, Suguru Geto, and even people like Nobara Kugisaki and Megumi Fushiguro is an example of how Satoru has failed multiple times in the series.

Therefore, there is an argument to be made that Yuji's strong sense of humanity and always throwing himself to help others could be the right way to change Jujutsu society. Even while fighting a powerful enemy like Sukuna, Yuji is still trying to save Megumi, which goes to show how far he is willing to go to help his friends and protect the weak.

Yuji's role as a protagonist

There is no denying that Yuji Itadori's role as a protagonist has been one of the biggest sources of criticism in Jujutsu Kaisen. That is because a good percentage of the fandom believes that Yuji is often sidelined in the story and doesn't have the same plot relevance as, say, Satoru Gojo, which could potentially change by the end of the manga.

In that regard, the Shinjuku arc is going to be pivotal in changing that perception, especially considering the revelation that Sukuna and Yuji are uncle and nephew, respectively. Author Gege Akutami will probably have to give his protagonist a conclusion fitting that role, which could potentially relate to him defeating Sukuna.

Final thoughts

Yuji Itadori appears more caring towards others than Satoru Gojo in Jujutsu Kaisen, which could prove to be the difference in saving Megumi Fushiguro. However, it remains to be seen if this approach allows Yuji to be successful where Gojo failed.
