Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 265 was yet another curveball thrown at readers by creator Gege Akutami. In the previous chapter, Yuji Itadori stunned and excited fans by finally uttering words that nearly every single individual was longing to hear, i.e., Domain Expansion.
During the week's gap between chapters 264 and 265, countless speculations arose as to what Yuji's Domain and its characteristics would be. However, Akutami took a different route by delving into the pink-haired teen's past.
Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 265 witnessed Yuji take Sukuna on a trip down memory lane, speaking of his childhood to him and ending with putting forth his ideology. While there was not a single bit of action, it is this very interaction that is a testament to Yuji and Sukuna being polar opposites to one another.

Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 265 proves why Yuji and Sukuna will always be complete opposites
Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 265 began with Yuji appealing to Sukuna that he just wanted to have a word with him. The pair was in Yuji's Domain, but Yuji himself wasn't sure of it as he had hastily brought them there amidst battle. Anyhow, the conversation that they subsequently have is intriguing.
Yuji begins to, one by one, show Sukuna all the places he visited and the things he did as a child. This included his life in Sendai, his favorite ice cream shop, catching crayfish, archery, and more. Towards the end, Yuji explains that each individual had a role in life and no matter what they did, fragments of memory remained, giving their lives value.
He further states that this was why he hated the Demon King, as the latter did not value life. For him, people were mere tools for his amusement, holding no value.
From the entire interaction itself, we see that Sukuna treasures none of what Yuji does. As seen in Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 265, at the end of Yuji's monologue, Sukuna states that he didn't care, just accepted things as they were and moved on.
As mentioned previously in Jujutsu Kaisen, Sukuna lived solely for himself. He traveled through life on his terms, attached to no one. But Yuji has a lot to lose, which is why he has suffered considerably. Unlike Sukuna, Yuji saw people for who they were, not what they offered or their usefulness to him. Further, the pair's ideals clash.
Sukuna developed a predator mindset, placing himself at the top of the food chain. Only strength interests him and he only sees those that are truly powerful. However, Yuji's beliefs are the complete opposite, him being selflessly determined to aid others around him, even at the cost of his well-being. The boy views himself as disposable, a "cog in the machine".
Moreover, Sukuna does not respect Yuji as he does not recognize his strength. He sees Yuji's use of Cursed Energy (CE) as basic since CE is capable of impressive feats. Not to forget, Sukuna rose to the top by living selfishly and treating others like tools rather than actual comrades, much less people worth protecting.
Meanwhile, Yuji has substantially grown in strength by doing the reverse. While he may not yet be at the same level as Jujutsu Society's upper tier of a sorcerer, he is definitely approaching it.
This too came through selfishness, but in another form. Yuji is selfish (or rather selfless) by emphasizing living for someone else, which is the opposite of what jujutsu sorcery emphasizes.
Final Thoughts
Yuji and Sukuna are one of animanga's most unique pairings. While they are seemingly similar at certain points in the story, they are vastly different. One is the embodiment of selfishness while the other sacrifices himself for others.
Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 265 is the clash of ideals that will never allow Yuji and Sukuna to coexist, like Hana Kurusu and Angel. The pair were always meant to face each other and what better than to make it the Final Showdown.
Yuji taking on Sukuna is more than just clashing fists. It is ideals, the meaning of strength, and the value of life from each one's perspective locking horns.
