Jujutsu Kaisen is known for its characters, battle sequences, and memorable moments, but the comedic scenes don't always get the credit they deserve. A very popular one happened in the Shinjuku Showdown in the manga when Yuta Okkotsu and Yuji Itadori worked together to attack Ryomen Sukuna, with the latter asking how they got so strong in a month, and Okkotsu said, "They cheated," while interrupting Itadori.
There were a lot of Jujutsu Kaisen fans who laughed at this and also assumed that it was Yuta trying to act cool in front of the King of Curses. However, there is probably another explanation for this, and that could be the background of both Yuji and Yuta, who happened to have very different childhoods.

Explaining the possible reason behind Yuta's "We cheated" line against Sukuna in Jujutsu Kaisen
During the events of the Shinjuku Showdown arc, Ryomen Sukuna, at one point, fought Yuji Itadori and Yuta Okkotsu at the same time, with the King of Curses asking how they got so strong in only a month. Yuji started to say that it was due to hard work, and that is when Yuta interrupted him, stating that they cheated, which a lot of fans took as comedy.
While Yuta was technically saying the truth since they used Ui Ui's Cursed Technique to switch bodies and learn abilities faster, the answer also says a lot about their personalities. Considering Yuta's tough childhood because of the death of Rika and the constant bullying he went through, there is a very good chance that he didn't learn a lot about media entertainment and social skills, so he is very direct and sincere when talking.
On the other hand, it has been confirmed in the series that Yuji is a huge fan of battle shonen manga, so there is a very good chance that he was going to give a huge speech about friendship, hard work, and so on. While that is hard to interpret at the time, this moment serves as a way to contrast and compare the personalities and backgrounds of these two characters.
The roles of Yuta and Yuji as protagonists
This little moment between Yuji and Yuta was definitely fun to witness since they don't have a lot of interactions together in Jujutsu Kaisen but also reminds people of the differences between the two protagonists. There has been a long-running debate in the community regarding who was the better main character, which also serves to show their differences.
Yuji Itadori, for the vast majority of the story, is an underdog who can't use most abilities in the series and stands out because of his determination and how his kindness doesn't waver. On the other hand, Yuta's potential is always compared to Satoru Gojo's and has a more imposing nature, a certain cool factor, that a lot of people gravitate toward.
Final thoughts
As mentioned earlier, Jujutsu Kaisen is not a series that stands out because of comedy, but small moments like this allow viewers to see another side of the characters. When it comes to this scene, it gives fans a better understanding of Yuta and Yuji's personalities and how they react to the same situation.
