Yuki Tabata has yet to show Asta's actual potential in Black Clover's final arc and the upcoming chapter might just reveal it

With Black Clover manga inching towards its conclusion, fans have been looking forward to witnessing Asta and Yuno's final battle against Lucius Zogratis. However, this won't be an easy task for the Magic Knights as the Paladin is the strongest enemy they have confronted up until now.

While Asta was in the Hino Country, Yuno Grinberryall fought Lucius alone and showcased his wide range of new magic and abilities. In comparison, Asta had seemingly only added Zetten to his arsenal.

Hence, considering that the fight against Lucius Zogratis in Black Clover's final arc could be the last time fans see Asta fight, manga creator Yuki Tabata may have withheld showing the protagonist's true potential until the very end. Hence, fans can expect the same to be revealed in the upcoming manga chapters.

Black Clover's final arc could see Asta unlock his true potential with Zetten and Devil Union

As fans must have noticed in Black Clover, each of Asta's swords has a different functionality. However, they are never tied down to their original abilities as they evolve just as much as their user. Up until now, the manga has shown Demon-Slayer Sword, Demon-Dweller Sword, and Demon-Destroyer Sword have some upgrades.

Demon Slayer Sword was earlier only used for hitting and slashing away at enemies but could later be enlarged and used for flying. The Demon-Dweller Sword was earlier only used for borrowing mana from others. But in the latest story arc, it was revealed that Asta could also use the sword to share his Anti-Magic with others. As for the Demon-Destroyer Sword, it can not only remove the after-effects of a spell but also negate special magic like Reincarnation Magic.

As for Demon-Slasher Katana, the manga has only revealed one functionality for it till now, i.e., it is capable of selective cutting. This means that the sword can release a slash that only damages the intended target without causing harm to what it wants to protect. But given how the protagonist has prioritized using the sword in Black Clover's final arc, there is bound to be more to it.

The key to unlocking the sword's true potential could be Zetten and Devil Union. A major portion of the final arc was focused on Asta's time in the Hino Country as he trained to use Zetten. Zetten is a technique to manipulate one's ki and focus magic on one's limbs. As for the Devil Union, the manga explained how Asta started concentrating the transformation only on parts of his body to extend his time under Unite.

Given the two developments, it definitely seems like manga creator Yuki Tabata is up to something as he could soon establish a connection between Devil Union and Zetten that makes the protagonist's attack so strong that he can only control its output through his fourth sword, the Demon-Slasher Katana's selective cutting functionality.

While it is difficult to accurately predict what such a combination could be used for, it is likely possible that Asta uses it to defeat Lucius Zogratis and prevent hurting Julius Novachrono. Evidently, both shared the same body. Hence, killing Lucius would mean the end for Julius as well. Therefore, Asta could use the combination of Devil Union and Zetten with his Demon-Slasher Katana to selectively destroy the soul of Lucius Zogratis and save the Wizard King Julius Novachrono.

If fans are lucky, the manga series could hint at such a possibility in the upcoming manga chapters.
