The Indian team of Rajat Chauhan, Sandeep Kumar and Ratan Singh Khuraijam clinched the bronze medal in the men’s compound team event at the Archery World Cup Stage 3 in Medellin, Colombia.
The Indian trio, who were seeded 6th in the tournament, defeated 11th seeded Guatemala 227-216 in the first round and then defeated 3rd seeds El Salvador 236-229 in the quarterfinals.
After losing to France in the semi-finals, they took on hosts Colombia in the bronze medal play-off and clinched third spot 215-210. France won gold after beating world no. 1 USA 223-216 in the finals.
In the women’s recurve, the 2nd seeded Indian team of of Deepika Kumari, Laishram Bombayla Devi and Rimil Buruily breezed into the finals after defeating USA 216-211 to set up the Gold medal clash with top seeds China. Mexico will play USA in the bronze medal play-off.
After getting bye in the first round, they thrashed Venezuela 224-201 in the quarterfinals. The men’s recurve team were beaten by Canada 220-223 in the quarters.
The mixed recurve team of Deepika Kumari and Atanu Das will take on the strong Mexican pair of Aida Roman and Juan Rene Serrano in the Bronze medal match.
