What's the story?
Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore has lent out a helping hand to the Indian compound archery team, providing them with the funds that were reportedly left in limbo. These funds would help them train in Italy.
Indian contingent going for the 2018 World field Archery championships to be held in Cortina, Italy has been released.
In case you didn't know...
The World Championships would be held between September 4 and September 9 later this year and the Indian contingent would be hoping to notch up a few medals at the championship.
Indian compound men's team had impressed last year, winning the first gold medal for the country in the World Cup in Shanghai last year. They would be hoping to replicate their performances in the World Championships. India also won a sliver and a bronze at the Youth World Championships in Rosario in October, 2017.
The Indian women's compound archery team had also impressed last year, clinching a silver medal at the World Championships in Mexico City, Mexico.
The heart of the matter
The funds for the Indian archery contingent were said to have been stuck making their training camp in Italy a difficult affair.
However, according to Rathore, when the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports heard about the news, it decided to release the funds as soon as possible, in order to ensure that the Indian archers do not run into trouble.
In his own inimitable manner, Rathore asked the Indian archers to train well and ensure that they bring more laurels home.
What next?
With the funds being released, the Indian compound archery contingent can now focus on honing their skills while training in Italy and prepare themselves for future tournaments.
Sportskeeda's take
The Indian archery fans have huge expectations on their shoulders from the contingent and would be hoping for a great performance in Italy.
