The Indian Archery contingent, after disappointment in the team event, has taken the Rio Olympics 2016 by storm. After Atanu Das redefined the meaning of calmness in the men’s individual event, Bombayla Devi trumped world no.10 and then Deepika Kumari upset world no.8 on their way to the pre-quarterfinals.
Both the women archers will be playing their respective pre-quarterfinals today, as Bombayla will be facing Mexico’s Alejandra Valencia and Deepika will be up against world no.2 Tan Ya-Ting.

Bombayla has undoubtedly been the better of the two archers so far at the Games, whereas, on the other hand, Deepika after starting slowly has finally come into her own. The former first defeated Austrian Laurence Baldauff and then trumped World no.10 Lin Shih-Chia 6-4 in the round of 32.
Deepika, whereas, first blew past World no.8 Kristine Esebua of Georgia 6-4 and then maintained her momentum to defeat Italy’s Guendalina Sartori to make it to the pre-quarters.
As far as their opponents are concerned, Alejandra Valencia, who will be up against Bombayla is world no.18, and Chinese Taipei’s Tan Ya-Ting is world no.2 and will be a tough nut for Deepika to crack. If the Indians manage to make it through to the next rounds, they will be playing their quarterfinal, semifinal, the Bronze medal match and the final tonight itself.
While the quarterfinals will start at 11:30pm IST, the semifinals will begin at 00:25 IST(12th August). The bronze medal match will be played at 00:57 IST and the final at 01:13 IST.
