The Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) has chosen Adidas to be their sponsor on a four-year-deal.
The Canadian arm of the globally acclaimed German sports apparel company will, henceforth, supply high performance apparel and footwear to the Canadian Olympic team in addition to creating a novel high performance range later this year.
Their entire range of apparel will be retailed at the official sports store of the Canadian Olympic team- Sport Chek, while Canadian Tire and Sports Experts will showcase selected items from the collection.
Sport Check has partnered with Adidas to sponsor seven Canadian Olympic athletes: Speed skater Charles Hamelin, bobsled athlete Kaillie Humphries, ice hockey player Meaghan Mikkelson, skeleton racer Jon Montgomery, snowboarder Maelle Ricker, alpine skier Erik Guay and ski cross racer Chris Del Bosco.
Meanwhile, Canadian Tire has been roped in on a eight-year partnership deal with the COC in January 2013.
Meaghan Mikkelson, who was the gold medal recipient in ice hockey at the Vancouver 2010 Winter Games, said: “I am thrilled to have been asked to be one of the athletes involved in the Sport Chek-Adidas partnership. Having already worked with Sport Chek, I can attest to their commitment to sport and inspiring Canadians to get more active. I’m also excited to work with Adidas as they have such a fantastic reputation worldwide. This support will go a long way in helping me achieve my Olympic dreams.
“Today is the start of an exceptional relationship with Adidas and Sport Chek and I am so humbled to be joining such an impressive team of Olympians,” added Olympic alpine skier Erik Guay.”
