Annette Echikunwoke, born on July 29, 1996, is a hammer thrower currently representing the United States in the 2024 Paris Olympics. She graduated with Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the University of Cincinnati. When she won the NCAA Indoor weight throw championship, Echikunwoke became the first player from Cincinnati to win a national championship.

She was one of the most distinguished female athletes in UC history, winning seven American Athletic Conference Championships and four-time All-America first-team honouree. In the 2020 Olympics, Echikunwoke qualified to represent Nigeria, her home nation but was disqualified along with a group of Nigerian athletes for missing doping screenings due to negligence of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria.

But she has again qualified for the Olympics four years later, this time for the US national team. Echikunwoke qualified for the Paris Olympics with her season-best mark of 245 feet (74.68m) in the Olympic trials. She also holds the African record in hammer throw with a throw of 75.49m in 2021.
