It was raining Golds for India in the field events as we won 3 Golds in the field events in the Athletics competition at the Jakarta games.
Arpinder Singh of India became the third Indian to win Gold in the Triple Jump. The Gold comes after 48 years when Mohinder Singh Gill won in 1970, Bangkok.
Tejinder won Gold in Shotput after 18 years, the last coming in Busan 2002 Games by Bahadur Singh.
Men's High Jump
In the absence of World no. 1 and defending champion Mutaz Essa Barshim of Bahrain who suffered an ankle injury, World No. 8 Majededdin Ghazal of Syria would have set his sight on Gold. But he was upset by World no. 12 Wang Yu of China who took the Gold with a clearance of 2.30. Woo of Korea cleared 2.28 on his second attempt to take the Silver with a season-best effort. Ghazal shared the Bronze along with Tobe of Japan. India's Tejaswin Shankar skipped the meet due to a neck strain. With a personal best of 2.29, he would have been a contender for the Silver or Bronze.

Men's Pole Vault
Yamamoto lived up to the expectations by pocketing the Gold with a Games record effort in the Pole Vault to sink a 24-year-old record held by Potapovich from Kazakhstan. Patsapong of Thailand produced a National record effort to take the Bronze.

Men's Long Jump
World no. 3 Jianan Wang smashed the 16-year-old Games record with a jump of 8.24m in his very first attempt at the Long Jump. Zhang of China produced his season's best jump in his first attempt to take the Silver. Sapwaturrahman created a new National record for Indonesia in his 5th jump to win the Bronze.

Men's Triple Jump
Arpinder of India came up with a Gold medal effort in his 3rd jump of 16.77. Kurbanov in his 3rd jump came up with a personal best effort to take the Silver. Defending champion Cao Shuo of China had his best effort in the 6th attempt to snatch the Bronze away from Yamashita of Japan.

Men's Shotput
Tejinder of India was alone at the top as he remained unchallenged on his way to Gold in the Shotput with a new Games record in his 5th attempt. Liu Yang of China came up with a season-best effort in his 3rd attempt to take the Silver.

Men's Discus Throw
Defending Champion and World No. 5 Ehsan Hadadi of Iran had a fairly comfortable outing in the Discus event to win Gold for the fourth time in a row. His best effort was a throw of 65.71 in his last attempt. Iraq's Mustafa claimed his country's first field event medal at the Asian Games.

Men's Hammer Throw
World no. 11 Ashraf El-Seify was extremely consistent in all his attempts. In his 5th attempt, he threw the Hammer to a distance of 76.88m which remain unchallenged as he took the Gold. World No. 6, Olympic and defending Asian games champion Dilshod Nazarov had 3 foul throws and his 3rd attempt got him to a Silver. Uzbek's Sukhrob Khodjaev came up with a season-best effort in his 3rd attempt to take the Bronze.

Men's Javelin Throw
The world no. 6 Neeraj Chopra of India was the clear favourite in the Javelin and he took the Gold with a new National record of 88.06 in his 3rd attempt. Liu Qizhen of China had a personal best effort in his first attempt to take the Silver. Pakistan's Nadeem pipped Ma Qun of China with a 3rd attempt throw of 80.75 creating a new National record. India's Shivpal Singh who was also a prospective medal contender suffered an injury after his first attempt and was unable to continue. Gold - Neeraj Chopra (IND) 88.06 (NR, PB), Silver - Liu Qizhen (CHN) 82.22 (PB), Bronze - Arshad Nadeem (PAK) 80.75 (NR). 8th Place - Shivpal Singh (IND) 74.11.
Men's Decathlon
Defending champion Ushiro of Japan won the Decathlon with a difference of 69 points to take the Gold. Thailand's Sutthisak created a new National record which got him a Silver. Nakamura had to be content with consecutive Bronze medals as he was less by 71 points.

Men's Marathon
The Men's Marathon was an extremely close race as Inoue of Japan dashed ahead to the finish in the last 10 meters to take the Gold and deny Hassan of Bahrain.

Men's 20 Km Walk
The Chinese have dominated the 20km race walk event having won 4 consecutive Golds including the Jakarta Games. World no. 3 Yamanishi of Japan lost the Gold by just 6 secs as Wang of China produced a last minute dash to the finish line to claim Gold. Both the Indian's in the fray were disqualified from the race for loss of contact. Irfan left in the 12th km when he was in the 7th position and Manish was in 9th place at the 12km mark.

Men's 50 Km Walk
The world no. 4 Katsuki of Japan quelled the challenge from World no. 8 Wang of China to take the Gold. Sandeep of India who was in 3rd place at the half-way stage was disqualified for loss of contact.
