World Indoor Champion Bryce Hoppel was born on September 5, 1997. He has also won the U.S. championship six times and the NCAA championship twice. After skipping his senior year at the University of Kansas, he went professional in 2019 with Adidas.
A middle-distance runner, Hoppel most recently won the 2024 World Indoor Championship in Glasgow in a world record time of 1:44.92, surpassing his 2022 bronze medal mark. He became the third American to do so.
Hoppel won the 800-meter short track at the Millrose Games in February 2024, clocking in at 1:45.54. The following week, in Albuquerque, Hoppel won his fifth consecutive US 800 m championship (indoor and outdoor combined), clocking in at 1:46.67.

Bryce Hoppel went to the University of Kansas in 2017 to study business finance; however, he left in mid-2019, skipping his senior year. His then coaches were head coach Stanley Redwine and assistant coach Michael Whittlesey; the latter is still his coach as of May 2024.
Hoppel won four Big 12 titles, two National Championships, and five All-American honors during his career at the University of Kansas. He made history in 2019 by winning the NCAA 800 meter titles both indoors and outdoors, becoming the first male graduate of the University of Kansas to do so.
Hoppel had a 21-race winning streak, which started in the 2019 indoor season and continued until July at the USATF Outdoor Championships. In May 2019, Hoppel broke records at the Birmingham CrossPlex and John McDonnell Field, among other places. He also set the Kansas indoor school record, clocking in at 1:46.46.
Further, he ran the No. 5 fastest 800 meter time in NCAA history in June 2019 at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, clocking it at 1:44.41, which was a few nanoseconds slower than the Kansas school record of Jim Ryun (1:44.3) in 1966.

Bryce Hoppel went to Midland High School in Texas. He started off playing soccer, but in his sophomore year, he turned his attention to track. Tony De La Rosa, Jeff Streun, and Hilberto Ochoa were his coaches at Midland.
