Bryce Hoppel’s Parents

American middle-distance runner Bryce Hoppel won two world championships in 800 meters, first a bronze in 2022 in Belgrade and a golf in 2024 in Glasgow, while his personal best was in 2020 in Monaco, clocking 1:43.23.

Hoppel went to Midland High School, and though he began as a soccer player, he switched to track as a sophomore, which was the beginning of his career as he broke school records in 800-meters, 1600-meters and three miles. After which, he joined the University of Kansas in 2017 and won two NCAA titles, four Big 12 titles and was also a five-time All-American.

Hoppel left the Kansas Jayhawks in 2019, skipping his senior year, and signed a deal with Adidas as he turned professional. He qualified for the 2019 World Championship. but finished fourth; he finally won his first national title at the 2020 USA Track and Field Indoor Championships, finishing 800-meters in 1:46.67 minutes.

Hoppel qualified for the 800-meter US Olympic team in June 2021 and qualified for the Tokyo Olympics later that summer by finishing third in the Olympic trials held in Eugene, Oregon, with a time of 1:44.14.

In the semifinals of the 2020 Olympic qualifying, Hoppel ended up in fifth place with a time of 1:44.91. Unfortunately, despite having the second-fastest time of the year in the semi-final, Hoppel was not qualified for the finals.
