In 2011, Chari enrolled at Utah State University as a student-athlete and joined the Utah State Aggies track and field team. There, she earned her first-team All-WAC honors by winning the heptathlon at the Outdoor Championships. She also qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Championships in 2013, 2014, and 2015, and participated in two NCAA Indoor Championships. In 2015, she graduated with a degree in consumer science. Following her graduation, Chari pursued a Master's degree in International Education and Globalisation at the University of Bath in the UK in 2018. She achieved a gold in the long jump and a silver in the 100 meters while competing for Team Bath in British Universities and Colleges Sport. Later, the 33-year-old Olympian competed in several elite-level events, including the 2015 Summer Universiade, the 2019 IAAF World Athletics Championships, the 2022 World Athletics Indoor Championships, the 2023 World Athletics Championships, and the 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships.
