Clayton Young is an American long-distance runner hailing from American Fork, Utah. Young's athletic journey on the track and field began at the American Fork High School. In School, he maintained a perfect academic raport he had a 4.0 GPA and earned All-Region and All State academic honors.
After graduating from highschool, Young joined Brigham Young University (BYU) for its Prestigious Running program. There, he was coached under Ed Eyestone, a two-time Olympian. Furthermore, Young won the 2019 NCAA 10,000m title and clinched bronze at the Indoor Championship before graduating from BYU later that year. The following years were marked by disappointment as Young wasn’t able to win his marathons despite showing potential. This also stopped him from appearing at the 2020 Olympics.
However, all of Young's efforts paid off in late 2023, when Young won the U.S. 8k and 20k Championships. Moreover, he clocked his personal best of 2:08:00 at the Chicago Marathon, finishing seventh and securing his spot at the 2024 Olympic trials. Notably, at the Olympic Marathon trials he finished second and qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
