Daniel Haugh World Record

Daniel Haugh is an American Olympian and track and field athlete. He is set to compete in the 2024 Paris Olympics, after previously participating in the 2020 Tokyo Games, where he finished 11th in the men's hammer throw.

Haugh was born and raised in Marietta, Georgia, and attended Kennesaw State University, graduating in 2019. He is the son of Jordan and Yvonne Haugh. He became the 2013 Georgia state champion in hammer, discus, and weight throw, contributing to St. Pius X's team title at the Georgia Class 3A Outdoor Championships.

Outside of athletics, Haugh enjoys fishing. He continues to aim high, training to end the 28-year U.S. Olympic medal drought in the hammer throw alongside fellow competitor Rudy Winkler.

Daniel Haugh's world record

On February 16, 2024, Daniel Haugh set a world record in the weight throw at the USA Track and Field Indoor Championships in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Haugh achieved a personal-best throw of 26.35 meters (86'5.5"), breaking the previous world record that had stood for almost two decades since March 4, 1995. This throw earned him the championship title but also set a new world. Haugh's dedication and hard work were highlighted by his assistant coach, Mike Judge, who praised his focus and competitive spirit.

Daniel Haugh has an impressive record of achievements in national competitions. In 2019, he won gold in the weight throw at the USA Indoors and gold in the hammer throw at the NCAA Championships. He also secured a bronze in the hammer throw at the USA Championships that year. In 2020, Haugh earned a silver medal in the weight throw at the USA Indoors. The following year, he took home a silver in the hammer throw at the USA Championships.

In 2022, he repeated his success with silver medals in the weight throw at the USA Indoors and a gold in the hammer throw at the USA Championships. Haugh continued to excel in 2023, winning gold in the weight throw at the USA Indoors and a silver in the hammer throw at the USA Championships. Most recently, in 2024, he secured another gold medal in the weight throw at the USA Indoors and set a world record with a throw of 26.35m (86'5.5").

Daniel Haugh Achievements

Daniel Haugh competed in the 2014 USA U20s, placing 5th in the discus throw and 10th in the hammer throw. In 2017, he finished 9th in the weight throw at the NCAA Indoors. The following year, he improved to 4th in the weight throw at the NCAA Indoors, and at the NCAAs, he secured 5th in the hammer throw and 11th in the discus throw.

His achievements also include winning the 2019 NCAA Championship and being a two-time USATF Champion in 2018 and 2019. On the world stage, his most notable performance was securing 6th place in the men's hammer throw at the 2023 World Championships.
