Odisha sprinter Dutee Chand ran home to glory at the Federation Cup National Athletics today, to set the new national record in Women’s 100m dash.

The 20-year-old athlete clocked 11.33 seconds to break, by a fair margin, Rachita Mistry’s standing record of 11.38 seconds, one she had set in 2000, at National Circuit Athletic Meet held in Thiruvananthapuram.

Despite winning gold at the New Delhi event, Dutee missed out on the requisite timing of 11.32 seconds for Olympic qualification i.e. by a tantalizingly close margin of 0.01 second.

Elated after the record-breaking sprint, an upbeat Dutee expressed her Rio ambitions citing ample time still remaining before the Summer Olympics get underway this year.
