Even though Sisson was born into a family of runners and athletes, her interest in sport sparked in middle school when a schoolmate invited her to a cross-country practice and was immediately hooked with it. This enthusiasm was also nurtured by her parents who encouraged her to participate in various sports throughout her youth. After graduating from Providence College in 2015 with a masters degree in Business Administration, Sisson started focusing solely on long-distance running. In 2017 and 2019, she competed at the World Athletics Championships and achieved top-10 finishes in the 10,000 m.
Moreover, Sisson won gold at the 2020 U.S. Olympic Team Trials for the 10,000m event. This led to her Olympic debut at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics where she finished tenth overall in 31:09,58.
