A.K. Kutty, eminent athletic coach, who trained quite a few prominent Indian athletic stars in his time, died on Wednesday, according to reports from TOI.
Kutty (75) was a recipient of the Dronacharya award and had coached the likes of M.D. Valsamma and Mercy Kuttan in his heydays. Kutty was known for his excellent skills in spotting talent and the way in which he put them through a systematic training program that managed to get the best out of them.
Family sources revealed that he had not been keeping well for quite some time which ultimately culminated in his death.
He had also served in the Indian Air Force for some time where he became famous as a very good athlete. He joined the Keral sports council as a trainer after retiring from active service.
Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy expressed his grief at Kutty’s passing away.
