Faith Kipyegon, born on January 10, 1994, is a Kenyan middle-distance runner and world record holder in mile and 1500m. She is a three-time Olympian, winning two gold medals at the 2016 and 2020 Olympics and one silver medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Faith has constantly dominated the World Championships, gaining four gold and two silver medals. Faith recorded her personal best in the 1500m event with a time of 3:49.04, becoming the first woman in history to break the 3:50 barrier in the discipline.

Faith began her athletic journey at Chebara Primary School and later joined Winners Girls High School in Kuresoi South, Nakuru County. She made her debut at the 2010 World Cross Country Championships in Poland at the age of 16 years, winning gold at the 2011 and 2013 World Cross Country Championships, the 2011 World Youth Championships, and the 2012 World Junior Championships in the 1500 meters.

She comes from an athletic family as her father is a former youth 400m and 800m runner.

Faith Kipyegon is the daughter of Samuel Kipyegon Koech and Jane Chepkosgei. She grew up with her seven siblings in a village near Keringet, Nakuru County in the Kenyan Rift Valley. Her father Samuel Kipyegon Koech is a former youth 400 m and 800 m runner. Faith gifted her parents a house after winning the gold medals at the Olympics and World Championships.

Faith is one of her eight siblings. She has four sisters and three brothers. Her brothers are Hilary Yegon and Peter Yegon. The names of her other siblings are not widely known.

Her brother Hilary Yegon stated in an interview with Nation Africa that “ Faith is a gifted lady” after she broke the world record. Her other brother Peter also celebrated her victory with the family.

Faith Kipyegon's husband is Timothy Kitum, a Kenyan middle-distance runner. Timothy was born on November 20, 1994, specializing in 800 meters. He won a bronze medal at the 2012 London Olympics with a personal best record of 1:42.53. Timothy also won a silver medal at the 2012 World Junior Championships and a bronze medal at the 2011 World Youth Championships in Lille.
