American Olympian Grant Fisher was born on April 22, 1997. The sprinter has three American records, which are also North American, Central American, and Caribbean Athletic Association (NACAC) records in the 10,000 and 5,000 meters (26:33.84 and 12:46.96), which he established in 2022, as well as the 3,000 meters (7:25.47), which he set late in 2023.
During Grant's time at Stanford University, the 11-time All-American became the first American underclassman in 2017 to win the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field 5000-meter championship in 28 years, finishing in 14:35.60. He went to Grand Blanc High School and was the Gatorade Player of the Year in 2014 and 2015. He became the seventh high school student in the United States to complete a mile in under four minutes in 2015.
Grant Fisher’s American Records
Grant Fisher has a total of three American national records as of July 2024. However, there is a thin difference between American national records and the North American NACAC records, but Grant prevails in both.
He also qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympics, which will be his second Olympic appearance. At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, he finished fifth in the 10,000 meters and ninth in the 5000 meters. Furthermore, he also finished fourth at the 2022 World Athletics Championships.
At the Millrose Games in February 2024, Fisher set an American record in the indoor 2-mile with a time of 8:03.62. His time beat the previous best of 8:07.41 established by Galen Rupp, and he came in second to the world record-setting Scotsman Josh Kerr. Fisher qualified for his second Olympics after decisively winning the 10,000 meters in the 2024 Olympic trials in a time of 27:49.47 - his first 10,000-meter national title.
At the trials, Fisher ran a 13:08.85 to win the 5000 meters, slightly ahead of Abdihamid Nur's 13:09.01. Fisher was the first man to win both races in the trials since Rupp in 2012, and he was also the first to win the 10000 and 5000 meters at the same U.S. track championship.
