The final round effort of 19.25m was enough for Gong to take the Gold in a tight contest in Women's Shotput as Saunders could only muster 18.39m.

Darlon Romani caused a major upset overcoming a competitive field which included reigning Olympic, World and European Champions to take Gold. A just reward for his consistent performance with all his 5 efforts registering over 21m.

Gold - Darlan Romani (Americas - BRA) 21.89, Silver - Tomas Walsh (Asia-Pacific - NZL) 21.43, Bronze - Michal Haratyk (Europe - POL) 21.36.
Pole Vault Men
Renaud Lavillenie's gamble did not pay off by entering late at 5.65m, followed it up by passing his jump at 5.85 and failing at 5.90 to settle for Silver. Sam Kendricks with a first attempt clearance at 5.85 took the Gold.

Pole Vault Women
It was an intense tussle for the Gold as three women were tied having cleared the same height and breaking the Championship record by 15cms. Sidorova representing Europe won the Gold on countback.

3000 Metres Men

The 3000m race was conducted as an elimination event happening for the final 4 laps. Seldom did Birhanu Balew, the fastest man in the field this year knew that he would be the first person to be eliminated when he was pipped by Zakayo of Kenya. Mollah (ETH), Scott (GBR) and Zakayo (KEN) fell in the following laps. Stewart McSweyn of Asia-Pacific was leading the field until the 2000m mark when Celimo took over the lead and headed to the finish line to take Gold. Africa playing their joker had finished last.
Gold - Paul Chelimo (Americas - USA) 7:57.13, Silver - Mohammed Ahmed (Americas - USA) 7:57.99, Bronze - Henrik Ingebrigtsen (Europe - NOR) 7:58.85.
3000 Metres Women

Sifan Hassan ran a fast race in order to avoid elimination and broke the Championship record and the National record in the process. Africa played their joker at this race and collected important points through Teferi and Obiri's 2-3 finish.
