Usain Bolt eased to another victory in the 100m, this time at Brussels in the IAAF Diamond Legaue meeting in the Belgium capital. He crossed the finishing line in 9.80 seconds, 0.10 seconds ahead of American Michael Rodgers. Another Jamaican, Nesta Carter,pipped Justin Galtin to third place.
In Bolt’s absence in the 200m, Warren Weir, again of Jamaica, won in 19.87 seconds. Fellow Jamaican Nickel Ashmeade finished second with a time of 19.93 seconds, with Walter Dix of the United States completing the podium.
In the men’s 400m, Martyn Rooney of Great Britain finished first in 45.05 seconds. Jonathan Borlee, competing at home, came in second place with a time of 45.05 seconds. Italian Matteo Galvan finished third.
Favourite Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce of Jamaica won the women’s 100m at a canter, finishing the race in 10.72 seconds. Alexandria Anderson of the United States and Carrie Russell of Jamaica finished second and third respectively.
