Jinson Johnson qualified in the Men’s 800m category

The two-day Indian Grand Prix that is being held at the Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru is proving to be a fruitful event for many Indian athletes who are vying for a spot in the Rio 2016 contingent.
The latest to make the cut is Jinson Johnson, who qualified for the Games in the 800m category after clocking a time of 1:45.98 seconds, thereby beating the qualification timing (1:46:00) by a small margin.
Johnson had a particularly good 2015 when he won Gold in each of the three legs of the Asian Grand Prix Games that were held in Thailand, joining Inderjeet Singh as the only other Indian to achieve such a feat.
Earlier in the day, Dharambir Singh and Renjith Maheshwary also clinched Rio 2016 berths in the Men’s 200m as well as the Triple jump events.The 4x100m Relay team booked their place into Rio 2016 on Sunday.
