Kendra Harrison, aka Keni, is ranked world No. 4 as of May 2024, according to the World Athletics. She was born in Tenessee on September 18, 1992, but was given for adoption and got adopted by a retired military couple, Gary and Karon Harrison. She went to Clayton High School and though she was initially interested in soccer, she found her way to track and field.

Keni soon won the Class 4A state championship in 2010 and 2011, as well as a gold medal in 100 m hurdles at the 2011 New Balance Nationals. She also won the 2011 Gatorade North Carolina Girls Track & Field Athlete of the Year, following which she attended Clemson University and later transferred to the University of Kentucky.

Harrison won the NACAC Championships in the 100-meter hurdles as well as the 2018 World Indoor Championship in the 60-meter hurdles. She notably finished second in the 100-meter hurdle event at both the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and the 2019 Doha World Championship.

Kendra Harrison’s 100m hurdles’ personal best was at the 2016 London Anniversary Games, when she clocked 12.20 seconds; with this, she also broke a 28-year-old world record set by Bulgarian Yordanka Donkova of 12.21. Briton Tiffany Porter placed sixth, while Jessica Ennis-Hill finished last. This was also a continental and national record.
