Bednarek is from Tulsa, Oklahoma, and was born on October 14, 1998. He went to Rice Lake High School in Wisconsin, followed by Indian Hills Community College. He's been taking part in athletics since second grade, along with his twin brother, Ian. In 2018, he ran a 200-meter high school event with a time of 20.43, setting a new national record.
