Lee Chong Wei still gunning for Olympic glory

New Delhi, April 4 (IANS) Malaysia’s World No.1 shuttler Lee Chong Wei is not satisfied with the two Olympic silver medals he has so far won and has his sights set on the gold.

The 31-year-old shuttler reached the 2008 as well as the 2012 Olympic men’s singles final but had to be content with the runner-up position as his nemesis Lin Dan of China won the gold on both the occasions.

“If I remain injury-free till the end of this year, I will definitely go for the gold at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics, which will be my last Games,” Lee said after he won his men’s singles quarterfinal encounter against local hope Parupalli Kashyap at the India Open here.

“Kashyap played really well and was tougher to beat than previous times. I enjoy playing every match at the India Open,” said the defending champion.

The Malaysian this year is aiming to defend his Commonwealth Games gold and wants to win his first Asian Games gold as well.

“My main target this year are the Commonwealth Games and the Asian Games because they happen once every four years. Plus you have the World Championships so there are too many major tournaments this year,” added the two-time World Championship silver medallist.
