Para-javelin thrower Ajeet Singh Yadav is beeming with glee as he embraces all the accolades and praises being showered on him. Having won India a silver medal at the Paris Paralympics 2024, Ajeet has fulfilled a promise that he had made to no one but himself.
The 31-year-old wore a proud look on his face while expressing how he has lived up to his own expecations. Yadav spoke to Sportskeeda at a felicitation ceremony for Paralympians in Delhi. He embarked on his journey to Paris with a clear motive, one that he successfully fulfilled.
"Before I got on that flight to Paris, I made a promise to myself. A promise that I will not return home without a medal. I feel blessed to have lived up to my own expectations. Tokyo Paralympics was not the best one for me. But, the experience I gained from there helped me learn many lessons and improve," said Ajeet.
Though he had all the determination in his heart to achieve the success he wanted, there still had to be a plan. Ajeet Singh revealed that he was totally aware of what was needed of him to ensure he performs well and makes it to the podium.
"I had my strategy all chalked out. My target was to remain in the hunt for a medal after my first three throws and that is what I did. The sequence can change in the 5th and 6th throws. So then my focus moved to maintaining my form and not let it go in the later stages of the event. It all worked out perfectly in the end," he expressed.
