Maharashtra's Sarvesh Kushare equaled the meet record in men's high jump at the National Inter-State Senior Athletics Championships 2024 with a jump of 2.25m. The previous meet record of 2.25m was held by B Chethan, who set the record in the 2018 edition of the National Inter-State Senior Athletics Championships in Guwahati.
The current National Record is held by Tejaswin Shankar, who registered a jump of 2.29m in Lubbock on April 27, 2018. Meanwhile, the Olympic qualification mark for men's high jump is 2.33m.
With a jump of 2.25m, Sarvesh Kushare clinched the gold medal in the men's high jump event. Tejaswin Shankar won the silver medal with a jump of 2.21m, while Karnataka's Jesse Sandesh bagged the bronze medal with a jump of 2.18m.
A total of 12 athletes competed in the men's high jump final at the National Inter-State Senior Athletics Championships 2024. Two players registered jumps of 2.15m, three players finished with 2.10m and 2.05m each, while one athlete managed to jump only a height of 2.00m.
Two players each from Maharashtra, Haryana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala competed in the men's high jump event. One player each from Delhi and Rajasthan were in action in Panchkula.
