World Athletics U20 Championships 2024: Team India breaks national record in men’s 4x400m relay

The Indian relay team, comprising Rihan Chaudhary, Ankul, Abiram Pramod, and Jay Kumar broke the national U20 record in the 4x400m relay event at the World Athletics U20 Championships 2024 in Lima, Peru. The quartet finished Heat 3 with a timing of 3:08.10 seconds, coming in second place, securing their place at the final event, which will take place later on Saturday.

Team Japan, which comprised Ryota Oishi, Kentaro Shirahata, Kairi Gonda, and Kyo Kikuta, bagged the top spot in the heat with a season-best final timing of 3:07.04 seconds.

World Athletics U20 Championships 2024 sees several national records broken by Indian athletes

The World Athletics U20 Championships 2024 saw a lot of national records being broken by India’s young sporting prodigies.

Aarti, aged 17, created a new national U20 record in the women’s 10,000m race walk event, winning the bronze medal with a timing of 44:33:39 seconds.

Another 17-year-old athlete Pooja Singh also created a new national U20 record in the women’s high jump event, registering a valid jump of 1.83m. Finishing in ninth place in qualification round B, she secured a berth in the final rounds.

The women’s 4x400m relay team, which included Rujula Amol Bhonsle, Neole Anna Cornelio, Abinaya Rajarajan, and Sudheeksha Vadluri, also created a national U20 record in their event but failed to secure qualification to the final round.
