Nico Young's Parents

Nico Young is a rising star in the field of American long-distance running and he is also notable for being openly gay, making him one of the few openly LGBTQ+ athletes in the sport of long-distance running. He is the son of Lynne and Andrew Young.

Nico Young has established himself as one of the greatest high school runners ever and continues to dominate at the collegiate level. In 2024, Young qualified for his first Olympic games where he finished third in the 10000 m event at the US Olympic trials securing a spot for himself in the US Olympic team.

Young went to Northern Arizona University where he won the 3000m and 5000m events at the NCAA indoor championships and has proved to be the top distance runner in the country. He also holds the collegiate records in the 5000m finishing in 12:57.14 and 10,000m finishing in 26:52.72, both set in 2024. At the 2023 NCAA Cross Country Championships, Young placed sixth with a time of 29:04.2.

Young was an absolute phenomenon during his high school days, he set the American high school record for the 3-mile cross-country event running, finishing in 13:39.7 at the 2019 Woodbridge Invitational. Young was named the 2019-20 Gatorade National Boys Cross Country Runner of the Year and the 2019-20 Gatorade National Boys Track and Field Athlete of the Year. He became the first athlete to receive both the awards in the same season.
