Sources close to Oscar Pistorius have rejected reports that the Paralympic Games sprinter took coaching classes on acting for his emotional murder trial.
We “deny that our client has undergone any ‘acting lessons’ or any form of emotional coaching”, Anneliese Burgess, said on his website.
Pistorius has been charged for shooting his 29-year-old model girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp on Valentine’s Day last year. His version of the shooting holds that he fired four times through a secured cubicle door in order to protect himself from an ‘attacker’ in the night.
Pistorius’ conduct of weeping and vomitting has caused turmoil in the proceedings of the court. A reputed South African correspondent Jani Allan is of the belief that Oscar has been emotionally trained for his performance. “I have it from a reliable source that you are taking acting lessons for your days in court. Your coach has an impossible task,” she posted on her website on Monday last week.
“Oscar, you are the latest in a long line of faux heroes. Like so many who preceded you, you have betrayed your people and disappointed your fans,” she attached.
Pistorius’ family, however have dismissed this information as false and ‘devoid of any truth’.
“This type of comment makes a mockery of the enormous human tragedy involving the Steenkamp family and our client and his family,” Burgess reacted.
The trial has been postponed due to an Easter break and will recommence on May 5.
