Seth Rider, born on March 6, 1997, is a professional triathlete from the United States. He grew up in Germantown, Tennessee, and began competing in triathlons at the age of six after watching his father and brothers. Rider progressed through the youth and junior elite triathlon circuit in the USA and later became a member of the Queens University triathlon team. His dream of competing in the Olympics was inspired by his experience with Team USA at the 2014 Youth Olympic Games.
The 27-year-old athlete holds a record as a four-time medalist in the World Mixed Relay Series. He also won a bronze medal at the 2019 U23 Junior Mixed Relay World Championships and at the 2018 Clermont CAMTRI Sprint Triathlon American Cup. He competed in the ITU Under 23 World Championships in 2018 and 2019, as well as in the ITU Junior World Championships in 2014.
Rider is regarded as one of the top triathlon cyclists of the modern generation. He currently holds the 91st position in the World Triathlon Rankings and 44th in the World Triathlon Individual Olympic Qualification Ranking 44 Ranking. He is set to make his Olympic debut at the 2024 Paris Olympics. His talent made him one of only two men selected by Team USA to compete in the triathlon.
