Janeek Brown was born on 14 May 1998 at Kingston, Jamaica. The athlete is an alma mater of Wolmer’s High School for Girls. She achieved a number of titles during her high school days. In 2015, the athlete became the U-18 CARIFTA Games 100-meter hurdles champion. Brown also qualified in the IAAF World Youth Championships in the 100m hurdles event.

In 2018, she debuted as Arkansas Razorbacks freshman. The athlete competed in eight indoor season championships. She finished fifth at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in the 100-meter hurdles by clocking 12.80s which became a school-record time. Brown also competed in the 100m hurdles race at the Jamaican National Championships.

Brown’s timing of 12.40s and 22.40s combined to 34.80s. It surpassed legendary athlete Jackie Joyner-Kersee’s world record for same day performance in heptathlon in 1988.

Brown turned professional in 2019 and has also represented Jamaica at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics and 2019 World Championships.
