Sha’Carri Richardson is an American sprinter known for her exceptional speed in the 100-meter dash. She was born on March 25, 2000, in Dallas, Texas. She rose to fame after qualifying for the Tokyo Olympics in 2021. Although subsequently barred due to a positive marijuana test, Richardson rebounded impressively in 2023.

Richardson excelled early in track and field, joining a middle-school club and becoming a standout athlete at David W. Carter High School in Dallas. In 2016, as a sophomore, she won the 100-meter dash at the AAU Junior Olympics. She followed up with a bronze medal in the 200 meters at the USATF National Junior Olympic Track and Field Championships the next year. Richardson made her international debut in 2017 at the Pan American U20 Athletics Championship, where she earned a gold medal in the 4×100-meter relay. After graduating from high school in 2018, Richardson enrolled at Louisiana State University (LSU), where she set an NCAA record in the 100 meters with a time of 10.75 seconds during her freshman season in 2019.
