Taiwan Open Athletics Championships: Indian athletes grab nine medals including four gold

Sprinter Dutee Chand clinched the gold medal in the women's 200 metres as the Indians made a sweep in the event on the second and final day of the Taiwan Open Athletics Championships in Taoyuan City on Friday.

Overall, the Indian athletics team won nine medals, including four gold, three silver and two bronze, according to the Athletics Federation of India (AFI).

Dutee clocked 23.52 seconds to clinch the sprint doubles after winning the 100m on Thursday. Srabani Nanda clinched the silver medal, clocking 23.55s while Jyothi HM finished third in 23.92s to complete the sweep.

In the men's discus throw, Kripal Singh finished on top of the podium with his best effort of 58.20 metre, followed by Arjun winning silver with a throw of 55.50m. Ci-Yun Li won bronze with his best throw of 47.03m.

In men's shot put, Korean IL Woo Jung clinched gold by throwing the iron ball to 18.12m. India's national record holder Om Prakash Karhana heaved the iron to a distance of 17.85m to finish second for silver.

Arivuselvam finished third in the men's triple jump event with an effort of 15.62m.

India won seven medals on the second and final day of the championships with two gold, three silver and two bronze.
