According to reports in Daily Telegraph, the UK Athletics is all set to announce Nike as their new official kit supplier to Great Britain’s athletics team.

However, the UK Athletics is yet to confirm the deal.

“Due to an ongoing legal process, British Athletics is unable to comment on reports in the Daily Telegraph at present,” said the UK athletics spokesperson to SportsPro.

The report says that the deal will be worth around £15 million and will run a span of seven years. The paper also reported that the deal is a direct result of the breakdown of the relationship between Adidas and UK Athletics.

Adidas and UK Athletics went to court over a clause in their contract which allowed Adidas to match any offer from another sportswear manufacturer. The court eventually ruled in favor of UK athletics.

“Obviously we had a relationship with UK Athletics and we’re disappointed that the court decision did not go our way. We would love to have reached the point where we could continue the partnership,” said an Adidas spokesman.

The Nike deal will include the world championships in Beijing and the following edition in London. Nike already has personal relationships with a number of UK athletes, including Olympic and world champion Mo Farah.
