Vikas Gowda qualified for the World Athletics Championship a few days back

India’s Vikas Gowda clinched the Triton Invitational title at La Jolla in San Diego on Sunday with an effort of 65.75m to carry forward his rich vein of form. The 31-year-old discus thrower, who qualified for the World Athletics Championships, to be held in Beijing in August, a few days ago, bettered his efforts from couple of days back, where he came up with his then season’s best, 65.25m that helped him qualify for the event.

Jamaica’s Chad Wright finished second with an effort of 65.03m while Erik Cadee of Netherlands finished third with an effort of 64.45m. Gowda’s effort of 65.75m was also 25 cm short of the Rio Olympics qualifying mark.
The Mysore-born athlete also holds the national record of 66.28m.
