The Gold Coast Titans and the New Zealand Warriors will be eager to return to winning ways when they clash at the Cbus Super Stadium on Saturday, June 22, in the NRL Round 16. Both teams come into the clash on the back of defeats in the previous round.
The Titans succumbed to an 18-10 defeat to the West Tigers in their last outing. Despite leading in the first half (10-6), they allowed the Tigers - who were winless in nine games - a comeback in the second period (12-0), as they suffered consecutive defeats, their third loss in five games.
This recent poor form has seen Gold Coast drop to the bottom of the table and will hope to evade a third consecutive loss.
Similarly, the Warriors fell short in Round 15, losing 38-24 to leaders Melbourne. Before that defeat, they were on a three-game winning streak. New Zealand will hope to steal a win on the road even without key forwards Kurt Capewell and Mitch Barnett, who are on Origin duties.
Gold Coast have been the superior team in this clash in recent years, winning four of five games against the Warriors. However, their home form this term has been abysmal with one win from seven home games.
The Warriors have lost three of their past four away games but have been in better form than their opponents. With a top-eight spot within their reach, they should be fired up to claim the two points at the Cbus Super Stadium.
