There are several ways to gain an advantage over your fantasy baseball opponents, with some options being a tad more frowned upon than others. That being said, stashing injured players is one of the most common ways to get an edge over their rivals.
Although stashing injured players tends to be better in fantasy baseball leagues with multiple IL spots, there are times when certain players are worth eating a roster spot.
At this point of the season, there may not be much time remaining in the regular season for these players to make a massive impact; however, when it comes to the playoffs, they could be league winners.
3 injured players worth stashing in fantasy baseball leagues
1) Max Muncy
The Los Angeles Dodgers could soon be getting some additional reinforcements. Hard-hitting infielder Max Muncy has been out of action since the middle of May with a right oblique strain but is finally nearly back in the lineup.
Although there are some weaknesses, Muncy's power-hitting upside, coupled with the potent Dodgers lineup, makes him an incredibly intriguing injury stash in fantasy baseball leagues.
Max Muncy may not help much in batting average; however, he should rack up plenty of counting stats to help out managers.
2) Michael Harris II
Fantasy managers who have already been stashing Michael Harris II will anxiously await his return to the Atlanta Braves lineup on Wednesday. In leagues where the outfielder is available, he is a must-add player given his on-base skills and likely prominent role with the club. Plus, one won't have to wait long before taking him off the IL.
3) Reynaldo Lopez
Reynaldo Lopez has been one of the most surprising fantasy baseball stars this season. After several uninspiring seasons with the Chicago White Sox, Lopez has enjoyed an outstanding 2024 campaign for the Atlanta Braves, earning the first All-Star selection of his career.
Reynaldo Lopez's forearm inflammation forced the veteran pitcher to hit the IL at the end of July. That being said, Lopez is set to begin a Triple-A rehab assignment this week and could be back in time for the fantasy playoffs.
He could help managers in the postseason, even though there is a risk of inning limitations moving forward.
