New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone hailed captain Aaron Judge during the postgame press conference of the New York Yankees' win over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday. The Yankees comfortably won the series opener against the Diamondbacks thanks to a historic performance from their captain, who homered thrice in the game.
When their captain is in the lineup, the Yankees are a different team altogether. Judge became the first player in Yankees history to record two three-HR games in a single season in the MLB as he launched three moonshots against the Diamondbacks to help his team to victory.
Manager Aaron Boone spoke to the media after the game and gave his opinion on the slugger, whom he considers a class above everyone else.
"A special player, that lost some time this year. He's just different than everyone else," Boone said.
Aaron Judge becomes first player in Yankees history to record multiple three-homer games in a season
While there is no shortage of legendary players in the New York Yankees' storied history in the MLB, captain Aaron Judge has cemented his name among the greats with his amazing feat. The 31-year-old slugger became the first player in franchise history to record two three-home run games in a single season.
The Yankees went on to win the game 7-1 on the night, with Judge scoring six of those runs thanks to a three-run homer in the third, following it up with a two-run homer in the fifth and a one-run homer in the seventh to take his season's tally to 35, the third highest in the AL this year.
Judge was selected by the Yankees in the 2013 MLB draft and went on to make his major league debut for them in 2016. Since then, he has established himself as one of the best sluggers of his generation and become the centerpiece of the Yankees lineup. After a historic season in 2022, he has continued to dominate this year as well, despite having to miss a crucial part of the season due to injury.
