The Atlanta Braves are a professional baseball team that originated in the metropolitan area of Atlanta, Georgia. As a member of the National League (NL) East Division, the franchise was established in 1871 as the Boston Red Stockings and relocated to Atlanta in 1966. This makes the Braves the oldest continuously operating professional sports franchise in North America. Over its history, this club has undergone various name changes before being officially named 'Boston Braves' in 1912.
After securing one World Series title (1914) during their 81 seasons in Boston, the team transferred to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 1953 and later moved to Atlanta due to ownership decisions made in 1966. The organization has achieved several accomplishments within Major League Baseball (MLB), including a record of 23 divisional titles, 18 National League pennants, and four World Series championships. Notably, they are the only MLB franchise to have won the World Series across three different home cities. Competing within the National League East division, the Braves have been hosting their home games at Truist Park in Cobb County since 2017. Throughout their legacy, they have claimed four World Series titles (in years: 1914, 1957, 1995, and 2021) along with a streak of winning 14 consecutive division titles from 1991 through 2005.
