Baseball Twitter reacts to Team Israel's comeback win over Team Nicaragua in World Baseball Classic matchup: "Wild finish for Israel" 

Team Israel pulled off an unlikely come-from-behind win over Team Nicaragua in the World Baseball Classic. Team Israel trailed going into the eighth inning when their offense came to life and managed to take the lead. Team Nicaragua are still without a win in the World Baseball Classic. The final score was 3-1 in favor of Team Israel, with all their runs coming in the eighth inning.

Their top pitcher, Jonathan Loaisiga, came in for the eighth inning to try and defend their lead, but Team Israel still rallied. Loaisiga is the best pitcher Team Nicaragua has on the roster, but he struggled in his debut with the team. He gave up three quick runs that would end up being the difference in the game.

The World Baseball Classic posted the final score of the game to their official Twitter.

Former Philadelphia Phillies and Houston Astros slugger Garrett Stubbs was the hero for Team Israel in the game. His double in the bottom of the eighth inning gave the team the winning runs. The fact that his hit came against a New York Yankees pitcher in Loaisiga makes it all the more surprising. It was the first win in the World Baseball Classic for Team Israel.

Some expected Team Nicaragua to be one of the top teams in the tournament and challenge the favorites. Now with two losses, it is an uphill battle to even make it out of the first round. It was a disappointing performance for a team that had a lot of promise and high expectations.

Team Israel's offense was stymied all game until it was time to be clutch. Their defense was on-point all game, keeping them in it. Without solid defensive and pitching performances, Stubbs' hit would have been too little too late.

Nothing has gone right for Team Nicaragua this tournament, and Team Israel made sure to capitalize on it.

There have seemingly been iconic moments every day since the tournament began. Whether it is Shohei Ohtani crushing home runs or comebacks like this game, memories are being made. With MLB players on every team, the competition level is higher than ever and will hopefully remain until the end.

Hopefully the international tournament is drawing in new fans and bringing awareness to the sport. The environment in the stadiums for these games has been absolutely incredible.
