They host their home games at Coors Field, renowned for its elevated altitude. The team's purple, black, silver, and white colors complement their mascot, Dinger, a purple triceratops.

Established in 1993, the Rockies marked a significant milestone in 2007 by securing their only National League pennant after a run of 14 victories out of their final 15 regular season games to clinch a Wild Card position. While the team has had limited playoff appearances overall, its most notable achievement occurred that same year when it reached the World Series but was defeated by the Boston Red Sox. Currently serving as manager is Bud Black. A former Major League Baseball pitcher from 1981 to 1995, he brings valuable experience and leadership to the organization.

Who owns the Colorado Rockies?

Richard and Charles Monfort are the principal owners of the Colorado Rockies. Their father Kenneth Monfort held ownership of Monfort of Colorado Inc., a meatpacking and distribution company that was subsequently acquired by ConAgra Foods.

Richard Monfort, commonly referred to as Dick Monfort, is the elder of the two brothers. He joined Monfort of Colorado in 1974 as a cattle buyer and progressed through various leadership roles including Vice President of Federal Cattle Procurement from 1979 to 1981; Group Vice President of Cattle Products from 1983 to 1984; and Executive Vice President from 1984 to 1987. In addition to his business pursuits, Dick serves on several boards including that of the University of Northern Colorado's Board of Trustees, University of Colorado Hospital's Board of Directors, Denver Zoo’s Board, and the Colorado Economic Development Board.

Charles Monfort began his career with their family business in 1988 as President of International Sales until 1996. He then assumed leadership at ConAgra Foods International before returning in 1998 to focus on his commitments with the Rockies. Charlie also holds a position on the Board of Trustees at Colorado Mesa University. On March 31, 2003, he was appointed CEO of the Colorado Rockies.

In this capacity alongside Richard's partnership after acquiring McMorris’ stake in April 2005, both became primary owners while Charles retained responsibilities as Managing General Partner until he transitioned the roles to Richard in 2011.

Richard and Charles Monfort’s role as the principal owner of the Colorado Rockies

Richard L. Monfort holds the positions of owner, chairman, and executive officer of the club, while Charles K. Monfort serves as both an owner and general partner. Additionally, he has been one of the managing general partners for the Rockies since 1992. During their leadership tenure, the Rockies have advanced to the playoffs four times and recorded five winning seasons between 2005 and 2023.

Before the start of the 2023 season, Richard addressed a local charity audience, expressing confidence that the team could achieve a .500 winning percentage for that year. Ultimately, in 2023, the Colorado Rockies concluded their season with a record of 59-103, resulting in a winning percentage of .364 and marking them as having had the lowest record in the National League for that season.
