Minnesota Twins All-Star outfielder Byron Buxton is marking his 10th season in the major league this year. He has played 16 games for the Twins so far, contributing seven RBIs and 11 hits.

In a recent interview with the MLB Network, Buxton talked about his special bonding with the Twins’ shortstop, Carlos Correa. He also spoke glowingly about the All-Star’s ability to lead the team into the playoffs.

“It's incredible. He's so smart with the way the game is now, so it's more about picking his brain day in and day out and just trying to make yourself a little bit better, Buxton said on the ‘Hot Stove’ show.
“Obviously, he has been to the World Series and a lot of playoffs, so he got a lot of knowledge on how to get there and keep us there. So it’s all about us keeping that chemistry and bond together, communicating and figuring this out together.”

Last year, Carlos Correa played 135 games and recorded 65 RBIs and 18 home runs. Correa also had four RBIs in the postseason during the Twins’ ALWC and ALDS games. Unfortunately, he suffered a right oblique strain on Friday against the Detroit Tigers and was placed on a 10-day Injured List with no timeline on his return.

Buxton was just behind Correa on the 2012 first-round draft. They have been together for three seasons in Minnesota. However, unlike Buxton, Correa is already a World Series champion with the Houston Astros in 2017, and is using his experience to try and win one with the Twins.

The Twins are going through a rough phase

The Minnesota Twins seem to have lost their rhythm from last year. This year they have won six games out of 16 matchups, placing fourth in the AL Central division. Their only series wins are against the Kansas City Royals and the Detroit Tigers.

They are currently on a three-game losing streak, recently losing a series against the Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yards. They are currently one game away from getting swept by the Orioles.

On Monday, the Twins suffered a 4-7 loss to the Orioles. Despite Jose Miranda and Ryan Jeffers’s efforts, the Twins failed to wipe out the deficit. Tuesday’s scenario wasn’t too different except the Os hammered the Twins for 11 runs, which in return they narrowed with three, recording another series loss to their account.

As of writing, the Orios gained the early lead with Gunner Henderson’s moon shot in the first inning. Twins’ P Lopez held the opposition for five innings, conceding only one run and two hits. In the top of the sixth inning, the O’s replaced Albert Suarez with Danny Coulombe to look for a sweep series victory.
