For the last eight seasons, Jose Altuve of the Astros has spent his Octobers locked in postseason battles. Now, for the first time in years, the superstar has the chance to spend the early fall in the company of those who matter most.

Altuve's wife Giannina posted a series of pictures on her Instagram. In the captures, Giannina is on board what appears to be a luxury yacht. In addition to enjoying the deck with her husband, she also captured the majestic expanse of the sea in the flurry of photographs.

Both natives of northern Venezuela, Jose Altuve married Giannina in 2005. At the time, Altuve was being shunned by most MLB teams on account of his 5'6" frame. However, in 2007, the Houston Astros decided to take a chance on Altuve and signed him to a $15,000 bonus.

Since then, Giannina has been one of her husband's most ardent supporters and fans. Bound together by their Christian faith, Jose and Giannina have two daughters and reside in the Houston suburb of Pearland, Texas.

Now a member of the Astros for well over a decade, Jose Altuve and his wife have been able to share some wonderful accomplishments. In addition to winning the 2017 AL MVP Award, Altuve has also captured a pair of World Series. However, his club's 2024 postseason aspirations were dashed by the Detroit Tigers in the first round.

Although Altuve is evidently making the most of his offseason with Nina, the 34-year-old is a competitor. After closing the gap on the Seattle Mariners to win the AL West, the team's two-game Wild Card series was a massive upset, as Altuve himself told The Athletic after his team was sent packing:

“When we get to the playoffs, you’re thinking long term, we obviously couldn’t win against the Tigers. It’s tough. We’re heartbroken right now.”

Although things did not pan out in the same way as seasons past this year, Altuve is set to remain a member of the club until 2029. As such, Houston fans can look forward to many more showcases of brilliance from their second baseman.
