MLB fans react to Alex Verdugo's harsh comments on Alek Manoah's emotions on the mound: "This guy better never get excited about a hit again"

Boston Red Sox outfielder Alex Verdugo is not the biggest fan of Toronto Blue Jays pitcher Alek Manoah. He doesn't like how Manoah carries himself on the mound.

Manoah isn't afraid to let a batter or the entire stadium know how he feels in the moment. Much like with fiery All-Star closer Liam Hendriks, you can often hear Manoah letting an expletive fly.

Verdugo points to a specific moment where he believes Manoah crossed the line last season. When the two teams played in July last season, Manoah struck out Franchy Cordero and stared him down before telling him to sit down.

Verdugo isn't asking Manoah to play without emotion. He would rather see him celebrate with his team rather than show up his opponent. He wouldn't have a problem with Manoah's antics on the mound if they were directed at the Blue Jays' dugout instead of the opposing team's.

"This guy better never get excited about a hit ever again," one fan tweeted.
"Pretty awesome that Manoah has the entire AL East on ropes. Rent free," another fan tweeted.

Baseball fans don't necessarily agree with Verdugo. They're happy to see players showing their raw emotions on the field. If hitters can flip their bats to the moon, pitchers are going to show them up when they strike them out in big moments.

Much like what pitchers were told when hitters started pimping every home run, if you want to stop it, get on base. Alek Manoah isn't going to change how he plays because of Alex Verdugo's comments. It's safe to say that a rivalry is brewing here.

Alex Verdugo facing Alek Manoah this season will be electric

There's nothing better than two athletes who wear their emotions on their sleeves while playing each other. That's exactly what both Alex Verdugo and Alek Manoah do.

The Toronto Blue Jays and Boston Red Sox will meet up on four different occasions this season. The first of which is a four-game series starting May 1. Manoah will undoubtedly get more than one start against Boston this season. We'll see if he remembers these Verdugo comments by then.

If you're a fan of a little extra drama, you aren't going to want to miss this series. It will be interesting to see who gets the better of who when this is all said and done.
