Several MLB teams have received some positive injury updates regarding some of their top players. As the season continues to push along, we have seen a large number of stars sidelined with various ailments, however, it appears that a few of these players could soon be back in their respective lineups.

MLB Injury Updates for June 27

#1 - Mike Trout

It has not been the season that Mike Trout was hoping for. After bursting out of the gates early in the year, the future Hall of Famer has been out of action since the end of April. Trout suffered a torn meniscus and was forced to undergo a procedure to repair the damage.

"Ron Washington said Trout is also making progress: “He's starting to feel like he might be able to get out here and get started. And once we see him on the field doing some things, then we know it's not too far.” - @JeffFletcherOCR

Mike Trout's recovery process has been slower than many expected. However, Los Angeles Angels manager Ron Washington gave a positive injury update regarding the super. Washington said that Mike Trout is progressing and could ramp up activity soon.

#2 - Yu Darvish

The San Diego Padres have received positive news regarding injured star pitcher Yu Darvish. The Japanese star was sidelined with a groin injury, however, prior to his return to the mound, he suffered a setback after experiencing elbow inflammation. Padres manager Mike Shildt said that Darvish underwent an MRI on his elbow and the results came out clean.

#3 - Anthony Rendon

It may not be long before Los Angeles Angels fans see Anthony Rendon back in the lineup. The veteran slugger has been out of the lineup for more than two months with a partial tear in his left hamstring. According to reports, Rendon could start taking live at-bats at some point this weekend. It is a step in the right direction for the polarizing third baseman.

#4 - Brandon Drury

Yes, yet another injury update involving the Los Angeles Angels. Brandon Drury, known as "Grave Digger" to some, has been out of the lineup for more than a week as he battles a respiratory virus. Angels manager Ron Washington said that Drury suffered a setback in his recovery, explaining why he remains out of the lineup.

#5 - Javier Assad

The Chicago Cubs will be without Javier Assad for at least two turns in the rotation after placing him on the 15-day IL. The 26-year-old suffered a right forearm extensor strain and will be sidelined for the foreseeable future. According to the Chicago Tribune's Meghan Montemurro, the area has been bothering Assad for some time, which makes the injury update rather unsurprising.
